Basketball Recap: Quaker Valley Piles Up the Points Against Gateway

Quaker Valley's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Gateway Gators, posting a 47-18 victory. The Quakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Oumou Thiero continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Quaker Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Leasia Karto, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Quaker Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Quaker Valley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Gateway, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Quaker Valley will head out to square off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Gateway has already played their next contest (against Armstrong), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
