Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rylee Zimmerschied and Naomi Poe Lead Upper Lake to Victory

Upper Lake won against Mendocino on Friday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Upper Lake Cougars secured a 43-37 W over the Clear Lake Cardinals. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in December of 2024, they had to take a 43-39 defeat.

Leading Upper Lake to victory were Naomi Poe and Rylee Zimmerschied. Poe almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards, while Zimmerschied posted 14 points and three steals. Zimmerschied is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aubrey Suzor was another key player, putting up seven points.

Upper Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

The victory got Upper Lake back to even at 5-5. As for Clear Lake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
