Basketball Recap: Julissa Mota Key Part of a Team Effort in Grizzlies Win

After losing to Millikan the last time they met, Godinez Fundamental decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies walked away with a 48-36 win over the Millikan Rams on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Godinez Fundamental's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julissa Mota, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Mota has posted since back in November. Another player making a difference was Valerie Esteban, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Godinez Fundamental has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Millikan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Godinez Fundamental won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against United Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. United Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Millikan, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lakewood at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
