Orangewood Academy falls despite strong effort from Ndeye Astou Ndiaye

Recap: Orangewood Academy Spartans vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

The Orangewood Academy Spartans struggled with threes on Saturday (the Bishop Gorman Gaels had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Orangewood Academy was the victim of a tough 64-42 defeat at the hands of Bishop Gorman. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Orangewood Academy has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Orangewood Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ndeye Astou Ndiaye. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Vicky Om, who scored 11 points.

It was another big night for Aaliah Spaight, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Bishop Gorman. The match was Spaight's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Addysen Carr was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.

Orangewood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Bishop Gorman, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Orangewood Academy will head out on the road to face off against Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Gorman, they will be playing at home against Shadow Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
