Basketball Recap: Birmingham Patriots vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Birmingham Patriots can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Cleveland 74-22 at home. The win was nothing new for Birmingham as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Birmingham got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Velasquez out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and four steals. Velasquez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie E. Lopez, who scored ten points along with seven assists and five steals.

Birmingham is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Cleveland, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Birmingham will take on the Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Granada Hills Charter will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Cleveland, they will head out on the road to square off against the Chancellors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
