Softball Recap: Vinita Comes Up Short

Verdigris hit Vinita with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets lost 7-0 to the Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-0 defeat on Monday.

CC Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

Vinita has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-21 record this season. As for Verdigris, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-7.

Vinita has already played their next game (against Adair), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Verdigris does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
