Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Benicia Panthers

Mt. Diablo and Benicia are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Mt. Diablo Red Devils will welcome the Benicia Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Diablo is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Mt. Diablo ended up a good deal behind Clayton Valley Charter and lost 59-44. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Ugly Eagles are ranked 83rd).

Benicia played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. Everything went their way against College Park as Benicia made off with a 59-39 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Benicia's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Mt. Diablo, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Everything went Mt. Diablo's way against Benicia when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Mt. Diablo made off with a 53-32 win. Will Mt. Diablo repeat their success, or does Benicia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
