Basketball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Comes Up Short

After flying high against Del Norte last Tuesday, Rancho Bernardo came back down to earth. The Rancho Bernardo Broncos were dealt a 69-28 loss at the hands of the Mission Hills Grizzlies on Friday. The matchup marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Rancho Bernardo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keira Tokushige, who posted ten points. Lindsay Biddle was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mission Hills was led to victory by Bay Cordova and Kalea Bacho. Cordova went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points, while Bacho went 7 for 8 on her way to 17 points. Cordova is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hc Harding, who earned 14 points.

Rancho Bernardo's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Mission Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Rancho Bernardo and Mission Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Rancho Bernardo (ranked 115th) will meet Fallbrook (ranked 392nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Bernardo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Mission Hills will square off against Poway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 547 places (40 vs. 587).
