Sterling put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past the Ellinwood Eagles to the tune of 43-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Black Bears also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Sterling had a senior duo take command as Zane Farney rushed for 130 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries and Wyatt Newberry rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Newberry also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sterling proved: they limited Ellinwood to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Jacob Lewis for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sterling didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.

Sterling's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Ellinwood, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
