Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Harvard-Westlake Wolverines

The Chaminade Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaminade has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Chaminade didn't have too much trouble with the Warriors at home as they won 61-42. Given Chaminade's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Warriors are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Harvard-Westlake unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. The game between them and Marlborough wasn't particularly close, with Harvard-Westlake falling 62-45.

Deana Thompson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Valentina Guerrero, who scored 12 points.

Chaminade pushed their record up to 15-10 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Harvard-Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.

Chaminade didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Wolverines in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chaminade since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
