Currituck County dropped down to 6-2 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins. They took a 35-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martin County Gators. The Knights were up 22-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Currituck County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tristan Peterson and Dominic Gibbs.

As for Martin County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.6 points over those games.

Martin County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jah Sheppard led the charge by rushing for 88 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Jordan Matthewson was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Currituck County has already played their next contest, a 34-33 victory against Pasquotank County on the 24th. As for Martin County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-13 loss against Northeastern on the 24th.
