Basketball Recap: Sahuaro Comes Up Short

Sahuaro was the 72-55 winner over Mica Mountain when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Sahuaro Cougars fell to the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts 68-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 69th).

Despite the loss, Sahuaro still got an impressive performance from Cisco Llamas, who went 11-for-25 en route to 42 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. That was a full 66.7% of Sahuaro's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Jamal Ali was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Sahuaro's defeat dropped their record down to 21-3. As for Mica Mountain, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10.

As of now, neither Sahuaro nor Mica Mountain have any future games scheduled.
