Baseball Recap: Jenkins Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Jenkins entered their tilt with Johnson on Thursday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Johnson Atomsmashers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-0 last Tuesday.

Sam Best looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Marquis Bush was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Jenkins is undefeated when Bush posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Brian Swinton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Jenkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Jenkins pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Johnson, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jenkins will welcome Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Johnson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Groves is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
