Baseball Recap: Valley Central Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Valley Central had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Roosevelt Presidents 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Presidents last Monday, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Valley Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Strobach, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Jake Cancredi, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Valley Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Valley Central is taking a road trip to take on Cornwall Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
