Basketball Game Preview: Chapman Irish vs. Bishop Ward Cyclones

Chapman is a perfect 6-0 against Bishop Ward since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Irish will be playing at home against the Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chapman has three straight victories, Bishop Ward has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Chapman needed a bit of extra time to put away Sacred Heart. They snuck past the Knights with a 56-52 win.

Jai Rogers had an outrageously good game as she almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. What's more, she also posted a 56% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Callie Cook, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Chapman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Bishop Ward and Rossville, and Rossville kept the tradition alive. The Cyclones took a blow against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 93-0.

Chapman's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Bishop Ward, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Chapman against Bishop Ward when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 59-13 win. Will the Irish repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
