Basketball Game Preview: El Dorado Golden Hawks vs. Sunny Hills Lancers

Having just played yesterday, the El Dorado Golden Hawks will get right back to it and host the Sunny Hills Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (El Dorado has five straight victories, Sunny Hills has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, El Dorado was able to grind out a solid win over Yucaipa, taking the game 47-34. Given the Golden Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sunny Hills played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-29 defeat at the hands of Esperanza. The contest marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

El Dorado will have to contain Ayah Maaytah as she made an impact in Sunny Hills' last game. She dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Maaytah is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Allie Sexton, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

El Dorado has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Sunny Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Everything came up roses for El Dorado against Sunny Hills in their previous meeting on January 3rd, as the squad secured a 65-36 victory. Does El Dorado have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunny Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
