Basketball Recap: Ferndale Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Olivia Gossi and Michaela Ellsmore

Ferndale was the 76-46 winner over Hoopa Valley when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Ferndale Wildcats fell 68-61 to the Hoopa Valley Warriors on Wednesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ferndale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Michaela Ellsmore, who posted 16 points, and Olivia Gossi, who scored 15 points. That's the most points Gossi has posted since back in December of 2024. Tinnley Pidgeon was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Ferndale's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Hoopa Valley, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Ferndale will challenge South Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ferndale is facing South Fork at the right time seeing as South Fork is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hoopa Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Bernard's at 6:00 p.m. St. Bernard's will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Hoopa Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
