Baseball Game Preview: Shaw Raiders vs. Brookstone Cougars

The Shaw Raiders will face off against the Brookstone Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shaw will be strutting in after a victory while Brookstone will be coming in after a loss.

Shaw will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Hardaway on Tuesday. Shaw walked away with an 11-6 win over Hardaway.

Shaw got a great performance from Nathan Truitt as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Kingsley Long was incredible, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. Otis Stephens was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Brookstone is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Central. Brookstone took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Brookstone saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gray Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Brookstone's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Shaw, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
