Softball Recap: Thompson Valley Wins Going Away Against Mountain View

Thompson Valley can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Mountain View Mountain Lions with a sharp 12-3 victory. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Lilly Reed made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Leyba was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Gabby Gil was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Thompson Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Thompson Valley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Mountain View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10-1.

Looking ahead, Thompson Valley will be playing at home against Greeley Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.75 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mountain View, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-1 loss against Timnath on the 19th.
