Basketball Game Preview: Southwest SD Raiders vs. Sweetwater Red Devils

Southwest SD is 2-8 against Sweetwater since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Southwest SD Raiders will host the Sweetwater Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. Sweetwater took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwest SD, who comes in off a win.

Southwest SD took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Castle Park 48-28. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Southwest SD's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pilar Carrera, who posted 13 points. Jazlyn Martinez was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater lost to Mar Vista on the road by a 33-17 margin on Wednesday.

Southwest SD's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Sweetwater, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Southwest SD and Sweetwater were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but Southwest SD came up empty-handed after a 50-49 loss. Can Southwest SD avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
