Basketball Game Preview: Apostles Lutheran Falcons vs. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions

Apostles Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Apostles Lutheran is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They were beaten by Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit 38-2 on Monday. The Falcons were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Hannah Du was Apostles Lutheran's leading scorer, having posted two points. Emily Zimmerman held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Luis Valdez Leadership Academy earned a 25-17 win over Latino College Preparatory Academy on Saturday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Apostles Lutheran took a serious blow against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 42-2. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Falcons were down 24-0.
