Softball Recap: Crete Has No Trouble Against Nebraska City

Crete never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Nebraska City on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

Madynn Dunham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Macy Dunaway was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Hayley Mattox, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Crete always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nebraska City only posted an OBP of .333.

Crete is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season. As for Nebraska City, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-9.

Crete has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Norris on the 10th. Nebraska City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
