Basketball Game Preview: Deer Valley Wolverines vs. Liberty Lions

Deer Valley is 0-10 against Liberty since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Deer Valley Wolverines will challenge the Liberty Lions at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Deer Valley is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They took a blow against Heritage, falling 64-15. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-11, which was the final score in Liberty's tilt against Piedmont on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Highlanders are ranked 24th).

Deer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Liberty, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Deer Valley was dealt a bruising 72-18 loss at the hands of Liberty in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Deer Valley was down 37-10.
