Baseball Recap: Wesleyan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wesleyan). They blew past the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles 15-3 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wolves sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Thomas Pressman looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

On the hitting side, Grayson McCollum was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Gillis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Wesleyan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wesleyan's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesleyan will challenge King's Ridge Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they will square off against Fellowship Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
