Soccer Game Preview: Willows vs. Corning

The Willows Honkers will take on the Corning Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Willows will be strutting in after a win while Corning will be coming in after a defeat.

Willows' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Gridley with a sharp 4-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Willows' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

They hit Gridley with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Damaris Martinez (2), Anahi Ortega, and Gaby Cano.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was West Valley who was credited with the win on Friday. The Eagles got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Corning's one.
