Softball Recap: Bradwell Institute Takes a Loss

Bradwell Institute extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 22-0 to the South Effingham Mustangs. The match marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

As for South Effingham, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. That looming 22-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For South Effingham's part, they gave Kelsee Collins the start and clearly made the right call: she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Collins has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makenzi Polk, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Justine Nevels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Effingham beat Bradwell Institute by a score of 18-0 on Thursday.
