Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 4-10. They came up short against the Glenwood City Hilltoppers, falling 13-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2024, but that streak is no more.

As for Glenwood City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Glenwood City's part, Jacob Hager made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hager was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Glenwood City got a massive performance out of Max Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Peterson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Riba, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Spring Valley will face off against Pepin/Alma at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Glenwood City, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Plum City at 5:00 p.m.
