Softball Recap: Pueblo West Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Pueblo West extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 16-6. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans. Considering the Cyclones have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Acelyn Duran was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taci Ehrlich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pueblo West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Fountain-Fort Carson's side, Danielle Cooley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Pueblo West will take on Vista Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will face off against Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
