Newton came out on top against South Gwinnett on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Rams took their matchup against the Comets 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-6 on Monday.

The victory made it two in a row for Newton and bumps their season record up to 17-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for South Gwinnett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.

Looking ahead, Newton will face off against Fellowship Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Gwinnett will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' contest: after the Rams face off against the Paladins, they'll take on South Gwinnett again at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
