Basketball Recap: Trinity Piles Up the Points Against Etna

Trinity had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Etna Lions, posting a 51-22 win. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Lions are ranked 854th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Trinity's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elsie Storckman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Storckman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Cox, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Etna, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will face off against Modoc at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Etna, they will take on Fall River at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
