Baseball Recap: Monroe Wins Going Away Against Mitchell County

After only two runs in their last matchup, Monroe made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mitchell County on Wednesday. The Monroe Golden Tornadoes put the hurt on the Mitchell County Eagles with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Golden Tornadoes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Bradyn Chamberlain made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Chamberlain was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Monroe let Javion Tinch and Jabraylen Mulkey run wild. Tinch scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Mulkey scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Tinch a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Grant, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Monroe back to even at 1-1. As for Mitchell County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 victory against Sumter County on the 14th. As for Mitchell County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Early County on the 14th.
