Recap: Burroughs Bears vs. Simi Valley Pioneers
The Burroughs Bears's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 victory over Simi Valley. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Simi Valley is ranked 733rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire Hackney, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Amoroso, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Burroughs' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Simi Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.
Burroughs will head out on the road to face off against Hoover at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hoover has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 15. Simi Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Golden Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
