Baseball Recap: Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Comes Up Short

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman had lost nine straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it ten. They came up short against the Arcola Purple Riders, falling 14-1. If the Buffaloes were looking for revenge after losing 15-3 to the Purple Riders when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Arcola, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Purple Riders, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Arcola's part, Brody Phillips made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Phillips has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Arcola got a big performance out of Caiden Helmuth, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Griffith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on the 21st. As for Arcola, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 victory against Cumberland on the 23rd.
