Basketball Game Preview: Louis E. Dieruff Huskies vs. Tamaqua Blue Raiders

The Louis E. Dieruff Huskies will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Tamaqua Blue Raiders at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Louis E. Dieruff came up short against Emmaus and fell 49-42. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Hornets are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, Tamaqua came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 60-28 victory over the Golden Bears. The Blue Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Louis E. Dieruff better keep an eye on Lauren Ligenza. She was instrumental in Tamaqua's win, going 9 of 12 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Ligenza is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Millie Black, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Tamaqua pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.0 points per game. As for Louis E. Dieruff, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Louis E. Dieruff took a serious blow against Tamaqua when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 63-24. Thankfully for Louis E.
