Football Game Preview: Potomac Wolverines vs. Laurel Spartans + How To Watch

The Potomac Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the Laurel Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Potomac is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Saturday, Potomac needed a bit of extra time to put away Oxon Hill. They snuck past the Clippers with a 32-26 victory.

Damarion Baxter produced another solid effort rushing for 245 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 138 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Baxter was just one part of a punishing run game: Potomac was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 260 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Laurel fell victim to Suitland and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 45-0 loss at the hands of the Rams. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Laurel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Potomac, their record is now 4-0.

Potomac and Laurel were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, but Potomac suffered an agonizing 14-13 loss. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
