Basketball Game Preview: College Prep Cougars vs. Cornerstone Christian Cougars

The College Prep Cougars will square off against the Cornerstone Christian Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

College Prep is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Head-Royce just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Jayhawks, falling 53-33. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 849th, while the Jayhawks are ranked 361st).

Despite the loss, College Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Yara E posted 12 points. Kate R was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pilots 77-37. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-14.

Cornerstone Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for College Prep, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
