Football Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Polk County came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 49-14 loss at the hands of the Newton-Conover Red Devils. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Loreynzo Sanchez, who rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Styler Blackwell, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one score.

Jeremiah Pope was a one-man wrecking crew For Newton-Conover. as he rushed for 86 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Newton-Conover, their record now sits at 2-0.

Coming up, Polk County will head out on the road to face off against Blue Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton-Conover has already played their next contest (against Travelers Rest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
