Baseball Recap: Eastside Has No Trouble Against Putnam County

After only one run in their last contest, Eastside made sure to put some runs up on the board against Putnam County on Wednesday. The Eastside Eagles put the hurt on the Putnam County War Eagles with a sharp 12-1 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Tripp Swords made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braydon Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Jordan, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Eastside's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Putnam County, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside will take on Walnut Grove at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Putnam County, they will square off against Lake Oconee Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
