Softball Recap: Windber Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Windber owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the North Star Cougars by a score of 5-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-4 back in April.

Rylee Baer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kaylie Gaye was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mash, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Windber hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Star struck out 15 times.

Windber is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Star, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Windber will square off against Shade at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for North Star, they will take on Meyersdale at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
