Baseball Recap: Open Bible Christian Has No Trouble Against Hope Christian Academy

Open Bible Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hope Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Open Bible Christian blew past Hope Christian Academy 19-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what Open Bible Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Campbell Avant made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (two). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zeke Mindziak and Mitchell Parnell did most of the damage at the plate: Mindziak scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Parnell went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Parnell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Watkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory got Open Bible Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Hope Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
