Softball Game Preview: Parkview Panthers vs. Duluth Wildcats

The Parkview Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Duluth Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Parkview has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Parkview came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Brookwood, falling 11-1. The Panthers have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Duluth fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Grayson on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 17-16. On the bright side, the 16- run effort marked the Wildcats' highest-scoring game to date.

Kaylie Zirger was cooking despite her team's loss, going 5-for-6 with seven RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Saniya Simmons was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Duluth's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Parkview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Parkview suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Duluth in their previous meeting on September 9th. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
