League recap: Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City stuns Paynesville in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Paynesville, who took down 99th ranked Paynesville, 18-14.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in West Central - South. Earlier in the week, the Falcons triumphed over the Bulldogs 18-14.

Benson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Ahrndt threw for 71 and one touchdown and Colin Ose had 38 yards receiving. On the ground Ahrndt chipped in 56 yards. Dan Lee helped Benson's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.

Ahrndt made the biggest impact on defense this week as Benson fell to Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta. The senior grabbed one interception.

Ahrndt has thrown for 430 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Landon Mitteness has seven catches for 141 yards. Ahrndt also leads the league in rushing with 371 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. As it stands, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta is in first, while Terry Karlsgodt's team is in fourth.

The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in West Central - South this week by beating Scott Gonnermon's team, 24-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta.
