Basketball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Oceanside Pirates

The Eastlake Titans will be taking part in a tournament against the Oceanside Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Eastlake is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Monday, Eastlake was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-40 to Bonita Vista.

Meanwhile, Oceanside suffered their closest loss since January 16, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Imperial by a score of 49-47. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Tigers are ranked 175th).

Eastlake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Oceanside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Eastlake came up short against Oceanside when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 47-35. Can Eastlake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
