Football Game Preview: Citrus Hill Hawks vs. Canyon Springs Cougars

The Citrus Hill Hawks will take on the Canyon Springs Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Citrus Hill strolled past Perris with points to spare, taking the game 39-23. The Hawks pushed the score to 39-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canyon Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over Lakeside. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jaxon Taylor and Andre Larry. Taylor gained 92 total yards while Larry rushed for 125 yards and one score on only 12 carries. What's more, Taylor racked up 79 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Canyon Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only rushed for 76.

Canyon Springs' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.8 points on average over those games. As for Citrus Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
