Deerfield-Windsor took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Valwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights skirted past the Valiants 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

West Rushton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Deerfield-Windsor let Boyd Pollock and Collins Clark run wild. Pollock went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Clark went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Pollock has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Grier Morey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Deerfield-Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valwood only posted a batting average of .259.

Deerfield-Windsor's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Valwood, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Valiants beat Deerfield-Windsor by a score of 4-2 later that day.
