Football Recap: Melissa Skates Past Independence with Ease

Melissa got themselves on the board against Independence on Friday, but Independence never followed suit. They blew past the Knights, posting a 68-0 win. Considering the Cardinals have won four contests by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory (which was Melissa's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Independence, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, Melissa and Independence will both be playing Emerson the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will host the Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
