Softball Recap: Stratford Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Stratford Academy came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cordtney Galoia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Craddock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Reagan Ray was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Stratford Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in October of 2024.

The win got Stratford Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stratford Academy will host George Walton Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
