Baseball Recap: Brooks Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brooks had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against Ogden International by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against Ogden International back in March, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

Jacob Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Brooks let Aiden Alvarez and Justin Slaughter run wild. Alvarez went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles, while Slaughter got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Alvarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayle Haji, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Brooks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Brooks is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ogden International, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

Brooks and Ogden International are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Brooks will square off against Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ogden International, they will head out to challenge Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
