Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Bishop Neumann couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Central City Bison by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. The Cavaliers' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Addison Sylliaasen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Neumann saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Furasek, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Marissa Knust was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bishop Neumann's loss dropped their record down to 25-9. As for Central City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 27-8.

While Bishop Neumann had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
