Lake Central piles up the points against Portage

Recap: Lake Central Indians vs. Portage Indians

Make it nine blowout wins for the Lake Central Indians this season. They breezed by Portage on the road to the tune of 67-27. Winning may never get old, but Lake Central sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Ayla Krygier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Aniyah Bishop was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, Portage had strong showings from Evelyn Garza, who scored nine points, and China Whitehead, who scored four points.

Portage struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Lake Central's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.3 points. As for Portage, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Lake Central will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Loyola Academy at 10:30 a.m. on January 15th. Loyola Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Portage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gary West Side at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gary West Side will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Portage is ranked 185th).
